Results on soft and hard diffraction obtained by the CDF Collaboration in Run I of the Fermilab Tevatron p̄p collider are reviewed and compared with results from the DESY ep collider HERA and with theoretical expectations. In addition, the CDF program for diffractive studies in Run II is briefly reviewed with emphasis on the relevant detector upgrades and physics goals.
متن کاملB Physics with the CDF Run II Upgrade
During the Run I data taking period, from 1992 through 1995, CDF has acquired 110 pb of pp̄ collisions at a center of mass energy of 1800 GeV. This data has provided many results on B physics [1], and provides a basis for extrapolating to Run II, which is scheduled to start in 1999 after major upgrades to both the accelerator and detector. We present herein a summary of Run I results relevant to...
متن کاملThe feasibility of direct treatment planning via contrast-enhanced computed tomography: an evaluation of dose differences based on the dimensional dose distribution comparison method
Background: We used a MapCHECK software-based dimensional dose distribution comparison method capable of evaluating point-to-point geometrical dose differences in volume to determine whether doses obtained from an enhanced computed tomography (CT)-based treatment plan, which better defines the target regions and organs at risk, differs from doses obtained from plain CT and then evaluated the fe...
متن کاملTevatron Status and Future Plans
Fermilab has just completed a very successful 1992-1996 Collider Run I which has led to the discovery of the top quark [1, 2] along with many other remarkable physics results. A typical luminosity of 2×10 cm s was achieved with 7×10 antiprotons in each of 6 bunches. The total integrated luminosity delivered to both the CDF and DØ collider detectors was about 150pb (see Fig. 1). The collider rel...
متن کاملEvaluating the importance of physical resilience criteria of run-down urban fabrics with using of Improved analytical hierarchy process (IAHP) method
Background and objective: Crises provide very short time to make decisions by creating unexpected and unstable conditions. Lack of preparation before crises, can lead to widespread negative consequences such as disorder, fragility, disintegration, instability, threat to values and conflict. In the last two decades, the issue of resiliency has been addressed due to the dramatic increase in damag...
